From
Pam Houston...
"The Pam Houston Workshops, as I see them, are gatherings of the
most talented writers I have had the pleasure to work with over the past
several years at the writers conferences I have attended. I have always
believed that there's no end to the things a really talented group of
writers can get accomplished, when all of us are seriously committed to
a week of hard work, 'truth' telling, and fun.
I hold them here at my ranch, where the landscape speaks to me more loudly
than any other, where we can walk together up to the top of the Divide
or along the banks of the Rio Grande up here where it's only a baby river,
where we can eat good food together and talk all day and late into the
night about how we turn all the landscapes of our lives into story, and
how we turn those stories into art.
Five summers ago, I held the first three Pam Houston Workshops and I have
to say with some immodesty, they really kicked ass. We got so much done,
got so much talked about, fixed so many manuscripts, started so many new
ones...and the readings, well, there was so much good writing flying around
here it would make your head spin. Since then I've had five more workshops,
all equally exciting, (though in much different ways), and who knows what
is in store for us this year."
DATES
The Pam Houston Workshops take place in June and September each year.
